SKAT informs - that due to errors in their systems - they are postponing the opening for reporting income for 2024 until 24 March 2025. This may result in additional costs for taxpayers.
Consequences of postponing the possibility of reporting to SKAT
SKAT opened up for the 2023 annual report on March 11 last year, and on March 13 of the year before. This is a delay of more than a week.
The consequence for taxpayers who receive excess tax is that it is received later. Taxpayers who receive a residual tax will have the final tax calculated later, thus paying a higher residual tax including interest surcharge.
Taxpayers who stand to pay a residual tax must pay overnight interest that amounts to 5.3 per cent p.a. up to payment. For those taxpayers who have not made a voluntary deposit by Dec 31, 2024, it will mean they will have to pay more in interest because they will not be told in usual time. In addition, they will not be able to deduct additional interest payments from their taxable income.
